Leaders of the KarRC RAS and Abkhazian Academy of Sciences signed a cooperation agreement
Olga Bakhmet, KarRC RAS CEO, and Zurab Dzhapua, President of the Abkhazian Academy of Sciences, signed a cooperation agreement. The signing took place at the opening of the 12th International Research-to-Practice Seminar “Methods of Fieldwork, Archiving, and Study of Folklore, Ethnographic, Linguistic, and Manuscript Materials” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of integrated expeditions to Zaonezhye area, 70th anniversary of the Audio Record Archive of the Institute of Linguistics, Literature and History (ILLH KarRC RAS), and the 60th anniversary of the Kizhi Open-air Museum.

Scientists from Russia, Belarus and Abkhazia gather to exchange fieldwork experiences
On April 21, the 12th All-Russian Research-to-Practice Seminar “Methods of Fieldwork, Archiving, and Study of Folklore, Ethnographic, Linguistic, and Manuscript Materials” started at the Karelian Research Center RAS. The seminar is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of integrated expeditions to Zaonezhye area and the 70thanniversary of the Audio Record Archive of the Institute of Linguistics, Literature, and History (ILLH KarRC RAS).
Traditionally, the seminar is organized by the ILLH KarRC RAS and the Kizhi State Open-Air Museum of History, Architecture, and Ethnography.

New equipment enhances print performance of the KarRC RAS Editorial and Publishing Department
The KarRC RAS Editorial and Publishing Department is one of the most active publishing organizations in Karelia: in 2025, it submitted 44 publications to the Book Chamber of the Republic of Karelia. The department's staff do the prepress and printing of monographs, books, journals, brochures, and other printed materials for the needs of the Centre's divisions and other parties. On the eve of the Russian Printing Day, the EPD Head, Alexander Seleznyov, shared information about the department's work and novelties.

Fairytales of Karelia will become available in audio on the web
This year, audio versions of fairytales from Karelia in the Karelian, Veps, and Finnish languages will be added to the digital platform "Voices of Peoples of Russia." The project is supported by the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives. The selection of texts in Karelia involved the Institute of Linguistics, Literature and History KarRC RAS, and the fairytales were voiced by actors of the National Theatre of Karelia.

Dictations in Karelian and Veps to take place on April 20
On the Karelian and Veps Written Language Day, April 20, the annual educational event "Dictation in Karelian and Veps" will take place. This year, it is aligned with the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia and is dedicated to the 95th anniversary of birth of the Karelian poet Vladimir Brendoev. The text will be read out to the participants in all dialects of the Karelian language and in Veps. One of the readers is Alexandra Rodionova, Senior Researcher at the Institute of Linguistics, Literature, and History KarRC RAS.

Employees of the Institute of Geology KarRC RAS give popular-science lectures at the National Library of the Republic of Karelia. The Geological April series of educational events is held on Mondays. The institute's director, Sergey Svetov, has already delivered about notable natural destinations in the vicinity of Petrozavodsk. Upcoming lectures include "Time in Stone: The Geological History of the Earth and Karelia" and "Journey to the Center of the Earth”.
